I´m having problems when installing the application on windows XP Professional.
It seems that virtual directories are not being created. Maybe I have something miss configured in my IIS? Or Litware HR does not run on Windows XP?

Thanks in advance!

That is correct, it will not work in Windows XP because the creation of multiple websites is not supported in IIS v 5.1.

This sample was designed to run on the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 operating system (SP1 or greater) and it will require the .NET Framework 2.0 and .NET Framework 3.0 to run.

Be sure to read the system requirements documents:

Getting Started
  • Prerequisite
o Install or verify you have the required system components (Windows Server 2003 SP1 (or R2) is required):

We are working in making LitwareHR run on windows XP.
Just released a how-to that explains the changes needed to W2K3 version in order to run it on windows XP.
Read it here and tell us what you think here.

I'm tring to install Litware on WinXP sp2. I've downloaded the installer for XP and performed the steps in the readme file. When I tried to add an organization ( by pressing "provision the application" in the wizards from http://localhost/litware/) I get the error "An error was encountered while creating the virtual folder" .
I 've checked the provisioning user to be admin and the paths in the config are ok ( like described in
Do you have any other suggestions ?
(I noticed that there was created a new virtual folved with the company name in http://localhost/litwarehr VF but when I try to access the public or private subfolders I get an object not set to a reference exception)
Also I added the user ASPNET in user roles->member atttribute( to an ADAM'connection ), but the user disappeared the next time when I look in the member attribute. I added ASPNET user to the admin group just to see if it works.

Did you follow Setup\readme.rtf instructions closely?
By debugging the solution you will be able to get more exception details to get a clue on what is possibly wrong:
1. Open Src\Litware\LitwareHR.sln solution
2. Browse http://localhost/litware/
3. In Visual Studio, attach to the IIS application pool process: debug->attach to process, select aspnet_wp.exe and press the attach button.
4. Navigate to the point where you get the "An error was encountered while creating the virtual folder" exception and you will be able to get the inner exception.

Please let us know if that helped.
