Any problem in provisioning with a SQL Server named instance?

Good morning everybody,
I installed SQL Server 2005 Standard over Express and, not-so-wisely, I created a named instance with "SQLEXPRESS" name.
When I go and run "Provision.cmd", databases creation fails, with an error such as "Login timeout - try and enable remote connections".
Of course, I enabled remote connections from Surface Area Configuration, but nothing to do.
Are there any known problems with named instances, or any other workaround?

I would uninstall and install SQL Server 2005 again, but this time with the default instance options.
Tell us if that helped...
